Our story

Michael and Amy Doiel, owners of Little Apple Printing

Michael & Amy Doiel
Owners — Army & Navy veterans

Little Apple Printing was founded on nearly a decade of experience in the commercial UV printing industry and a passion for helping customers bring their ideas to life.

Before starting Little Apple Printing, I spent nine years working with thousands of customers across the United States and around the world — including Australia, China, Portugal, Dubai, Canada, and Mexico. Along the way, I helped businesses solve production challenges, improve print quality, and turn creative ideas into finished products. That experience gave me a perspective that goes beyond simply operating a printer: it is about understanding the customer’s vision and helping them achieve it.

As Army and Navy veterans, my wife Amy and I built Little Apple Printing on the values that shaped our military service — integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing the job right. Those principles guide every project we produce and every customer relationship we build.

Little Apple Printing is a family-owned business, and we are proud to serve Manhattan, Kansas, and the surrounding communities with custom UV printing and signage. Whether you are ordering one custom piece or a full production run, our goal is simple: deliver exceptional quality, honest communication, and a product you will be proud to share.

Thank you for supporting our family’s dream. We look forward to bringing your next project to life.

What we do

Service What it means
Custom UV Printing Full color printed directly onto acrylic, wood, metal, glass, leather, and plastic. One-off pieces through full production runs.
Indoor Signage Signage for businesses, offices, schools, events, and retail — lobby and wall signs, displays, directional and room signage, acrylic panels, and tabletop displays. Yard signs and short-term outdoor event signage as well.

What we don't do — so nobody wastes a phone call: we do not print apparel or do embroidery, and we do not produce permanent outdoor or weather-exposed signage — yard signs and short-term event signage are fine, but not building signs or anything meant to live outside year round. Everything we make is printed directly onto a hard surface, for indoor use.

How we work

  • Free file review before you commit to anything. Send us what you have and we will tell you in plain English whether it will work — no charge, no obligation.
  • A proof on every job. Digital proof as standard, physical sample on production runs. Nothing gets made until you say go.
  • Straight answers about materials. If a photo won't hold up on a certain material, we will say so before you pay for it, and tell you what will work instead.
  • Everything produced in-house in Manhattan. Local pickup, or shipped anywhere.

Why we wrote the file guides

Most delays and disappointments in this business come down to one thing: the wrong file. Not because customers do anything wrong, but because nobody ever explains the difference between a JPEG and a vector, or why a wall panel does not need the same resolution as a coaster.

So we wrote it down. A short guide, no jargon: Image Files & Sizing. Five minutes, and your job goes right the first time.

The equipment

Everything is produced in-house on our own machines:

Machine Capacity What it runs
Direct Color Systems large-format UV flatbed 8 ft × 4 ft bed
4 in max object height
Full sheets, large wall panels, oversized interior signage
Direct Color Systems medium-format UV flatbed 4 ft × 4 ft bed
4 in max object height
Lobby and wall signs, display panels, cut-to-size sheet goods
Two Direct Color Systems small-format UV printers 12 in × 24 in beds
6 in max object height
Plaques, awards, name plates, thicker objects, batch production. One is fitted with a rotary attachment, so we print full color around cylinders — straight-walled tumblers, bottles and cans. No handles: the piece has to spin freely, so mugs and anything with a handle cannot run on the rotary.

Running four print beds means small jobs do not sit behind large ones, and a production run can move across machines instead of queuing on one.
